CITY OF OXNARD ANNOUNCES NEW BUS SERVICE TO CONNECT THE OXNARD AIRPORT, MEXICAN CONSULATE AND INDUSTRIAL AREAS OF EAST OXNARD


The City of Oxnard has approved new bus service for Gold Coast Transit effective Monday, June 14, 2010. The new Route 19 will serve central Oxnard and was developed with feedback from the community and riders of the current Route 18B tripper service. Route 19 will run weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and will provide needed transportation to some of Oxnard’s most popular destinations and large employers.

The community is invited to attend a Town Hall Meeting on public transit Wednesday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Topping Room of the EP Foster Library, 651 E. Main Street, Ventura. The meeting will give West County residents a chance to learn about unprecedented funding challenges facing bus and rail transit service in the West County and discuss the community’s public transit priorities.

VENTURA COUNTY - TRY PUBLIC TRANSIT FOR FREE THIS EARTH DAY

April 5, 2010 – Ventura County’s transit operators are promoting cleaner air with the County’s biggest ever bus ridership promotion. Starting April 5 more than 15,000 free bus tickets will be given out to encourage people county-wide to rethink their ride.  One of the easiest ways an individual can make an impact this Earth Day is by riding public transportation.  Switching from driving a car to riding the bus is significantly more beneficial to the environment than then typical energy-saving activities practiced at home.

Congresswoman Capps Announces Recovery Act Grant of Nearly $3.2 Million for Gold Coast Transit
January 26, 2010

Lois Capps WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Lois Capps today announced that Gold Coast Transit will be receiving an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant from the Department of Transportation (DOT) totaling $3,197,980.  The grant provides funding for remodeling Gold Coast Transit's Maintenance and Operations facility. The Recovery Act funds will also be used for paratransit operations and Transit Enhancements that will include improved bus stops and the installation of shelters throughout the region.
