Message from Chairman of the Gold Coast Transit Board
Welcome to the new Gold Coast Transit website. Over the past year we have made many improvements to the public transit service we provide throughout western Ventura County. Our name changed from South Coast Area Transit (SCAT) to Gold Coast Transit, a name that is more unique and better describes our beautiful region. Along with our name change came new buses, a new logo, fresh system colors and this new website.
We have focused on making our bus and paratransit service more convenient for our customers and easier to understand and use. We have added:
- Later Saturday and Sunday service on Routes 1, 2, 4B, 5, 6, 8,11 and 16
- Two-way weekend service on Routes 10 and 11 to Saticoy and on Route 15 to the Auto Center Drive/COSTCO area.
- Sunday express service on Route 8 to serve Oxnard College
- Three new weekday express routes: Ojai to Ventura Transfer Center, Ojai to County Government Center, and Oxnard Transportation Center to Ojai.
In the past, we had brochures and maps for each route, as well as individual flyers on how to use the system. In October 2007, we put all this information into a new Bus Book , to help current and future riders find all the information they need about routes, schedules, service hours and fares in one place. The Bus Book includes a list of every bus stop on every route and identifies popular destinations served by Gold Coast Transit. There is also a form to order multi-ride tickets and passes by mail.
These changes are just a start. Our goal is to make Gold Coast Transit service more attractive, accessible and convenient to better serve today’s riders and attract new customers who may try transit due to record high fuel costs. Please browse our new website and let us know what you think. Your input will help us fine-tune today’s transit system and plan customer oriented service improvements for the future. Thank you for riding with Gold Coast Transit – Your Community Connection.
