(Oxnard, CA) –Gold Coast Transit (GCT) is pleased to announce service improvements and fare adjustments that will become effective August 21, 2011.

Service Improvements:

  • Improved service on Route 6 so all trips serve Main Street and Ventura Avenue.
  • NEW Route 14 connecting Nyeland Acres to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, RiverPark and the Esplanade.
  • Restructured Route 15, connecting the Esplanade, El Rio, Auto Center Drive and St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
  • NEW Route 20, providing direct morning connections between the OTC and job sites in Seagate Industrial Park in Oxnard.
  • Improved schedules on all GCT routes.

 

In addition to the service improvements, Gold Coast Transit will implement the second phase of a fare increase approved by the Board in 2009. This phase, also taking effect August 21st, will increase the current base fare, from $1.35 to $1.50.

“We are proud that we are able to implement a significant service increase while continuing to be fiscally responsible”, said Steve Brown, GCT’s General Manager. “We listened to our riders’ concerns and feedback and did our best to meet these needs and still keep a balanced budget.”

Gold Coast Transit provides safe, responsive, convenient, efficient, and environmentally responsible fixed- route bus and paratransit public transportation that serves the diverse needs of the cities of Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme and Ventura, and in the unincorporated County areas between the cities. Utilizing a fleet of 54 clean- burning buses, GCT carries over 3.5 million passengers annually on its 19 bus routes. GCT is a joint powers authority governed by a Board of Directors made up of an elected official from each member jurisdiction.
