Gold Coast Transit Fares Increase on January 24

On Sunday, January 24, 2010, Gold Coast Transit’s adult bus fare of $1.25 will increase by 10-cents to $1.35. Fares for a trip on GCT’s ACCESS paratransit service, for people with disabilities and senior citizens 65 and older, will increase to $2.70. This is the first fare increase for Gold Coast Transit since 2003.

The fare increase is intended to help GCT offset diminishing revenues from state and local sources which account for 80 percent of GCT’s overall budget.  In the past year, State Transit Assistance (STA) funding was eliminated completely and the Transportation Development Act Funds (TDA) that local government use to pay for GCT transit service declined sharply.

Additionally, riders are able to save money on fares by purchasing multi-ride ticket and monthly passes available at authorized ticket outlets across western Ventura County. To learn the location of GCT’s ticket outlets, please call 805-487-4222 or click here.
