Today Gold Coast Transit (GCT) met with representatives of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721 to continue negotiating a contract for GCT’s bus operators, mechanics and administrative employees.
“We had a productive meeting and we are confident that an agreement between the union and management can be achieved,” said Steven Brown, GCT’s General Manager.
Members of the union’s bargaining representatives will review the items discussed at today’s meeting. The next negotiating session has not yet been set.
In the meantime, GCT has received assurances from the union that regularly scheduled bus service will not be impacted and will continue.
“This is very good news for our passengers,” said Brown. “They will be able to rely on our service and look forward to the service improvements that are set to begin on August 21st.
